Svalbard - Spitsbergen

From 20th - 22nd of March, all employees at Polaria, where I work, went to Spitsbergen to learn and to experience. We stayed in Longyearbyen (City of Longyear), and made study trips to Svalbard Museum and Spitsbergen Travel. The highlight was a 220 kilometres snowmobile trip to Pyramiden, and old Russian mining city which 800 inhabitantes left in 1998. Please enjoy the photos:

Sapporo - Japan

From 21st - 27th February 2007, I visited Sapporo, Japan. Sapporo has 1.890.000 inhabitants, or 1.830.000 inhabitants MORE than my hometown, Tromsø. But there are parallels, believe it or not. Both cities are "Winter Cities", they are located far north in their respective countries and great things happened in 1972 at both places; Winter olympics in Sapporo and opening of the University of Tromsø.
