From 21st - 27th February 2007, I visited Sapporo, Japan. Sapporo has 1.890.000 inhabitants, or 1.830.000 inhabitants MORE than my hometown, Tromsø. But there are parallels, believe it or not. Both cities are "Winter Cities", they are located far north in their respective countries and great things happened in 1972 at both places; Winter olympics in Sapporo and opening of the University of Tromsø.

Tokyo by night.

One of many "square streets" in Sapporo. The city centre looks like a chess board from above. Not easy to navigate until you "breake the code"...

Children palying snow-ball in the park.

The most photographed house in Sapporo - and the most beautful one (no hard competition there...!)

Busy traffic in Sapporo, with the ski jump at the end of the street. Not many noticed that the Ski World Championship took place this week. Except from the Norwegians....

During the ski jump competition, Worl Championship 2007. Silver to Norway (Roar Jøkelsøy).

Japanese patroits.
